Friends of the Pool celebrates Class of 2025 Seniors

Islamorada, FL - May 28, 2025 - Friends of the Pool, a nonprofit organization known widely for their premier fundraising event, Swim for Alligator Lighthouse, celebrated local graduating seniors in May, awarding scholarships for years spent on the swim team.

Graduating seniors who were active on the local swim team were awarded $500 per year of swimming, with a bonus of $500 for athletes who swam all four years. With rising college costs, these are welcome gifts, and over the last decade, they have become incentives to keep swimmers engaged, even when it gets tough.

This initiative, along with the ongoing restoration and securing of funds to save the Alligator Reef Lighthouse, is heavily supported by their annual event, Swim for Alligator Lighthouse. An 8-mile swimming event held every year in the Florida Keys.

This event, a much-loved part of the Speedo SALT Series, holds so much meaning for the local team, who work tirelessly every year to ensure that every swimmer has a unique experience, unlike any other.

Congratulations to the following seniors

Evan Osipov - 4 years swimming - $2500 scholarship

Abbie Sargent - 4 years swimming - $2500 scholarship

Calista Wittvie - 3 years swimming - $1500 scholarship

Hailey Mangel - 1 year swimming -$500 scholarship
